Who am I?
My name is Kim and I’m in my early 30s. As of the 7th January 2022, I will be travelling the world solo!
This is me in a nutshell: INFJ, Enneagram type 3 wing 4, manifesting generator, sun: Sagittarius, moon: Pisces, rising: Pisces. Yes, I am a double Pisces!
When I was a kid, I always thought my job would involve 2 things: creativity and travel. However, due to pressure from society and family, I took the ‘safe’ route. I went to University for 7 years, became a Doctor of Chiropractic and spent 5 wonderful years in practice in the small city I grew up in: Perth, Western Australia.
I held my dream of full-time travel close to my heart. I lived my life in Perth with one foot out the door. I lived out of a suitcase for years, I slept on the floor on a futon, moved houses often and avoided forming close friendships with colleagues. None of this was conscious, but now I look back, I realise it’s because I always knew I would leave!
Over time, the little voice inside my head urging me to to see the world grew stronger and stronger. I made up all kinds of excuses to validate my choice to stay:
‘You work part time and earn good money, you’d be stupid to leave!’
‘But you love your job’
‘Most people dream of having a work/life balance like yours. You should be more grateful.’
‘It’s not safe to travel alone, wait for the right partner to come into your life so you can go together’ (LOL, probably the worst excuse I came up with)
‘But how are you going to make money online?’
I knew that I could just save money and go travel whilst living off my savings and then come back to my Chiropractic job in Perth. But this didn’t appeal to me. It wouldn’t give me the true and freedom and abundance that I craved. I want a life where I can wake up every morning, work unbound by location and then be free to explore all the sights and sounds of places far and wide. Ie, long term location independence!
A series of unlikely events led me to a huge breakthrough. That’s a story for another day. Once I started making more money online than I was making being a Chiropractor, I started planning to leave the country. This all happened during COVID time, which made things more difficult, but also made me more determined to leave!
I will be sharing my travel experiences, reviews and general bits and bobs here. Who knows what this site will morph into. I am so happy to have you here on my journey! I hope my story will inspire others to listen to that little voice in your head and go for those dreams.
